Best 2-Burner Gas Grills for 2022

Though summer has been and gone for those of us in the Northern hemisphere, and winter is beginning to rear its ugly head once more, this does not mean that we can’t still dream of those balmy nights on the back porch, or outside the RV or tent; beer in one hand, tongs in the other. The chatter of your friends talking shop intermittently drowned out by the succulent sizzling of a freshly turned steak as it chars – not too much, but just right.

These times are just around the corner again, friends, and we here at wellfed want to be prepared – and want you to be prepared too! After all, there’s nothing more frustrating than an ill-fated barbeque, when the gas runs out before the cook is done, or when the heat doesn’t pick up enough to sear. Worse yet, those nightmare barbeques when everything just sticks to the griddle. Any seasoned veteran of the outdoor cooking world will confirm that these things do happen, largely due to faulty equipment; but now we’re here to make sure these things don’t happen to you. Not on our watch! So, this being as good a time as any to do this; let’s roll (or carry) out The Best two Burner Gas Grills for 2021.

Best 2-burner gas grills for 2021 with reviews

1. The Char-Broil Performance 300 2 burner grill

The Char-Broil Performance 300 2-Burner Cabinet Liquid Propane Gas Grill

View on Amazon

Those of us with a few years under our belt as grill-masters will instantly recognize the name ‘Char-Broil’ as a distributor of quality outdoor cooking equipment, and this grill strives to maintain that immaculate record. Porcelain-coated everything is its game, and it boasts an impressive 300 square inches of primary cooking surface, with a swing-out rack. Boasting an impressive 24,000 BTU output, it can easily achieve temperatures in excess of 475°F.

In terms of features, our favorite of the Performance 300 is the rather eye-catching lid. The stainless-steel lid adds to the grills projected longevity, in our minds. It also adds quite a bit of aesthetic value, breaking up the monotony of the black. Not only this, but it also has a trick up its sleeve. It’s got a built-in temperature gauge, allowing you to maintain total control of your cook-out.

  • Getting even

The cast iron grill lets out a very even temperature throughout, so no more half-burned or half raw bits around the edges. Despite the grills compact stature it can also manage 8-10 patties at a time – enough for most get-togethers!

  • Compact, but robust

The cast iron grill is affixed to four casters, two of which lock, making the entire unit feel stable as a whole – a big plus as some of these more petite units can feel a little flimsy.

  • Hide and seek expert

The side shelves can fold away easily when not being used, meaning it will occupy significantly less space on your decking, or in your garden.

  • Ready for anything

Below the grill, it’s a sea of stainless steel; the tubes, the shields - everything! Because of this, we’re pretty sure you won’t be seeing rust on this thing for quite some time.

  • We can handle the heat

Okay, this thing can reach and maintain temperatures ideal for cooking meat evenly, but when it comes to getting a decent char going on a thick steak, it struggles to hit the mark.

2. The Napoleon TQ285X-BL 2-burner grill

The Napoleon TQ285X-BL

View on Amazon

Our second grill, the Napoleon, is smaller again than the Char-Broil at 275 square inches of cooking space, but it is small but mighty? Let’s find out! Well for starters it delivers 12000 BTU, which is admittedly considerably less than the average unit; but the little Napoleon does compensate for this shortfall rather cleverly. It offers dynamic cooking facilitated by its dual stainless-steel burners. The cooking grids are porcelain coated and allow for even heat distribution, and then, our favorite bit: it holds heat incredibly well and heats up to 500°F rapidly. Surely something so small just shouldn’t be capable of that?!

  • It’s just…easy!

The whole thing is easy to set-up, the grill surface is easy to clean, and the grill itself folds down without any hassle. As such, it’s an absolute breeze to transport – great for tailgate parties and camping trips alike!

  • Customer relations experts

Napoleon have an exceptional customer record when it comes to replacing parts with minimal fuss. No need for a ‘buyer beware’ advisory here!

  • No space? No problem!

This little grill is designed to fold up for vertical storage and takes up minimal space when doing so. Great if your space is limited but you still want the home BBQ experience.

  • Achieve the perfect char

It reaches a hot enough temperature to facilitate the cast iron grates giving a truly brilliant sear. It’s the little things like this that count.

  • You’ve got to go with the flow

The lid of the Napoleon feels ever so slightly cheaply made, and the lack of an adjustable vent means that you just have to accept the airflow on the grill as it is.

3. The Cuisinart CGG-306 two burner gas grill

The Cuisinart CGG-306

View on Amazon

The first notable thing about the Cuisinart is how cheap it is, but don’t let its bargain price lead you to think that they’ve skimped on some essential fixtures or fittings – as far as we can tell, that’s simply not the case! The build quality is simply excellent for its price point, and it’s clear to see. It’s turned out with stainless steel throughout; from every working surface (including the bottom), right down to its fittings. This ensures durability, and ease of cleaning.

It’s also noteworthy how easy the Cuisinart is to set up. It being a tabletop unit, there are no legs, wheels, or panels to attach; just set up and go! This process will take you under 15 minutes and can be completed using no tools whatsoever! It’s that easy! After that, this thing can be brought pretty much anywhere with minimal hassle. Weighing in at a measly 22lbs, and with folding legs, it can fit into the most compact of cars. What’s not to like about that?!

  • Portable, and powerful

Despite the Cuisinart CGG-306’s compact and portable nature, its effectiveness isn’t the slightest bit hampered. It can cook several steaks at a time, or 8 hamburgers even. On top of that, it gets up to heat fast, and within minutes of ignition the built-in thermometer will be reading 600°F.

  • Tabletop friendly

It being the case that it is a tabletop unit, it’d be logical to have concerns about the casing overheating and destroying whatever lay below it, but this simply doesn’t happen.

  • The gift that keeps on giving

The Cuisinart CGG-306 is a remarkably cheap grill compared to most out there, and if you buy one – Cuisinart will offer you a free gift if you post a review on their product, whether the review is positive or negative! Seems like they’re genuinely interested in what their customer base has to say, which we here at wellfed always appreciate.

  • Too hot for some

The CGG-306 is picking up some negative reviews about their temperature controls. According to these reviews, it is difficult to grill things that need less heat, as even on the lowest temperature setting, this thing runs hot.

Weber Spirit II E-210

View on Amazon

This thing truly is the daddy of the two-burner grill world! This thing is mean, and its built to sustain damage. It boasts an incredible 450 square inches of cooking space over porcelain enamelled cast iron grates. This thing just screams Power! And it delivers it, at a rate of 26,500 BTU per hour. Yeah, we’ll admit that it costs quite a bit more than the average two-burner unit, but we reckon it’s worth the extra for what you get. This thing is just in a totally different league than most of its counterparts and can do most things a full-size grill can.

If you’re the type of person that is comfortable with spending that bit extra in the pursuit of quality, then this is probably the grill for you. The Weber 44010001 Sprit II E-210 delivers on style, build quality and functionality simultaneously. • No chill whatsoever

This grill retains its heat incredibly well. After you get your char going, you can take the heat right down and still cook food quickly.

  • A behemoth

The Weber is an absolute giant compared to the other grills in this series, with a massive 450 square inches of grill space. Unless you plan to cook for the whole neighbourhood, you definitely will not need anything bigger than this.

  • Engineer-grade assembly

Unless you were an expert at building Lego models as a child, or hold an engineering degree, you’re going to have a tough time putting the Weber together. Thankfully, there is a work-around for this, and though it may bruise the ego of a few novice DIY enthusiasts out there, we nevertheless recommend it. When ordering this grill, opt for their excellent professional assembly option, and have someone else do it for you, in your own home! Go on, have a day off!

5. The Giantex Propane 2-burner Tabletop Gas Grill

The Giantex Propane Tabletop Gas Grill

View on Amazon

Don’t be fooled by this Giantex’ miniature, portable appearance (a dwarfish 22” x 18” x 15”): when it comes time to cook this thing lives up to its name, pumping out gargantuan amounts of heat for a tabletop unit – 20000 BTU! This means it can easily compete with the larger, more expensive grills in its class, and it can do it convincingly. The two 10,0000 BTU burners deliver heat quickly, and hard; so much so, that if you’re in any way inattentive, you’ll wind up decimating your steaks. Plainly speaking, the BTU to dollar ratio here is unbeatable!

Portability is the secondary superpower this grill has in its arsenal. The Giantex’ leg and lid fold down flat ensuring it takes up minimal space when transporting or storing, making it ideal to bring along for impromptu days out. It also weighs very little, so lugging it along won’t feel like such a chore. In summary, this grill is plenty powerful and perfect for camping, picnics, or indeed any outdoor use.

Pros:

  • Born ready

The Giantex comes fully assembled! All that’s left for you to do is to put the flame shields and grill in place. Doesn’t get much easier than that!

We really can’t express enough how impressed we are with this things BTU to dollar ratio!

  • Customer service issues?

We’ve seen a reasonable amount of negative press regarding the customer service associated with this product. This would lead us to believe that should you need replacement parts, they may be hard to come by.

6. Royal Gourmet 22 Inch Tabletop Grill

Royal Gourmet 22 Inch Tabletop Grill

View on Amazon

And so we move on to the final grill in this round-up, and what a grill it is. Think cheap and cheerful, but also full of surprises. At 17.6”L x 13.5”W this thing is incredibly small, but yet boasts a considerable amount of flame; 17000 BTU, to be precise! The stainless-steel control panel also adds to its wow factor. This thing does not look nearly as cheap as it is! Royal Gourmet Corp really nailed this one.

  • Heavy duty

The Royal Gourmet 22 Inch Tabletop Grill boasts a decidedly sturdy and robust build.

  • Customer care experts

We were quite impressed with the fact that quite some number of the negative reviews this product has received have been addressed directly by a representative of the company. They seem to genuinely care about the customer experience: always a big plus in our books!

  • Feed the multitudes

Despite its small stature, this grill can handle a ton of food at once; more than enough to feed a small army.

  • A sticky situation

The porcelain coated cooking surface tends to be a bit sticky, and this is desperately unfortunate for a product that otherwise held up to our scrutiny. They should probably avoid calling it a non-stick surface. For now, just spray it before cooking.
